GROWLTIGER

Morgan OI 511

Joan and Greg Conover

Saltponds Marina, Hampton VA

GROWLTIGER is our Morgan OI 511, circa 1976. We have almost totally rebuilt her holly teak sole, 19 stainless ports, new interior cabinets, entertainment center/navigation electronics, auto pilot/radar, wind, etc, new gel coat non-skid, new awl grip hull, new canvas, sails, crows nest, replaced light covers for original light fixtures (mold created and new plastic molded), all new interior cushions (see sailrite catalog), strong system, new dink/engine/life raft, new standing rigging, new running rigging, new mast step/rebuild mast foot, rebuild fuel tanks, new genset, stuffing box, you name it. The attached is the most recent picture of her in her slip, Saltponds Marina, Hampton VA. GT was first MY Dream, in 1988 became Plan B and relocated to Isle of Palms, SC from Fla just before Hurricane Hugo. She survived Hugo and was the big ketch on top of all the other boats in the insurance pictures. We got her there in 1996, and it has been a love affair ever since. She took us to Bermuda with the Bermuda Rally in 1998 (Seipt Trophy winner), and many areas on East Coast US from Newport south.
